Password Generator

Strong passwords from a memorable phrase.

Type a sentence, get a password. Type it again later, get the same one back.

Type a phrase that means something to you. Password Generator transforms it into a strong, fixed-length password as you type. Same phrase tomorrow — same password. No vault to lose, no master file to be stolen.

How it works

You type any phrase — a memorable sentence, a song lyric, the title of a book. The program transforms it on the fly into a password of up to 100 characters. The transformation is deterministic: typing the same phrase later produces the same password. Optionally, you can add a numeric suffix for extra entropy, or save the result to disk if you would rather not memorise the phrase.

What it's good for

  • Generating a unique strong password for each site you sign up to
  • Deriving the same password again on a new machine without a vault
  • Producing fixed-length high-entropy strings for non-login purposes (encryption keys, salts)
  • Avoiding the "I forgot my master password" failure mode of vault-based managers
